september moon
the book, in the pulp! (+ a free copy opportunity) seeds, harvests, & a new comic >:3
hello from the internal library. I was DEEP in writing / research mode this month, have already begun on my next two books, and am generally ready for some autumn reprieve. (happy equinox & indigenous people’s day by the way ☾)
september involved…
much research involving the gathering of accounts of african and native resistance, spirituality, and shared histories across the americas, plus information on the wildlife and ecology of the southeastern us & atlantic ocean for my upcoming book GO BACK & GET IT. (for those interested, I’ll be compiling the films, books, papers, and music I’ve collected to share soon!) some of this information is truly buried treasure.
an advance copy of COOK LIKE YOUR ANCESTORS arrived, in my hands, and not on a screen. it also got a starred review in Booklist magazine :’)
I’m also hosting a giveaway, so if you want a free signed copy & some risograph posters of heirloom vegetables, keep a lookout for details later this month!
masses of vegetable-themed work: I dragged my friends & fam to an heirloom seed festival, we finally finished replacing half our landlord’s lawn to build a gorgeous raised bed, sowed tons of winter seeds on autumn’s first day, and I got yet another harvest air-mailed to me from my mom’s garden. drawings of all that included~
but first off, you’ve gotta see it.
I don’t have words. I’m so happy with it.
though this is solely an advance copy (and the book still releases November 15), I’ve been in the depths of marketing research alongside the Silver Sprocket team, as well as the amazing folks at the cartoonist co-op who are running a volunteer campaign to help me get the word out!
I couldn’t be more grateful.
lots more to come, but for now, there’s already some reviews:
“THE LAST COOKBOOK YOU’LL EVER NEED” at Unlimited Rice Pudding
a quickie at the weekly Sam’s Studios (found at the very bottom)
and most amazingly, the starred review in BOOKLIST magazine, which is the American Library Association's pick for books outstanding in their genre… I am just floored :’) what an honor.
I’ve scripted, started sketching, or halfway finished about 5 comics, (half of them longform) over the last two months. needless to say, I’ve gotta get better about tying up what I begin.
however, one big project is DONE, just in time for spooky season:
it’s been a long time coming, but horny.live - a comic in which a camgirl summons a demon for a special evening’s stream - is available for download. happy october >;3
and as I said - adults only, ok?
otherwise, here’s some of the few doodles I managed to produce this month:
that’s all for now. i’m back to thumbnailing things I can’t yet show you.
much love, and hope you’re enjoying the autumntime~
Thank you for the shout-out!
