screaming into the night sky like Vegeta listening to Phil Collins cuz I turned in my final pages for COOK LIKE YOUR ANCESTORS this week!
what was supposed to be a 60 page book is now just shy of 100, and the support & excitement from folks has been really special to behold. I’ve posted several exclusive previews of my favorite page spreads on my patreon, and am so excited to see these in print! below is a look at some of the final test kithcen tasks (and a reminder that you can pre-order here~)
in other news:
after a near decade of being a working artist I have finally created a functional website 💅🏽
Clone High, the show I worked on for most of last year, premieres on HBO Max on 23 May. wild to see so many of the scenes I boarded in this trailer!
last month’s comic reading was lovely, and a sweet reminder of how lovely the Chicago comic scene is, and how important community building is in an ever-fracturing post-pandemic country <3
all this to say, I am permanently leaving Chi-town in just a few weeks! it may be quiet for a while post-wise as I settle and build a new home studio with my partner, who’s going independent fulltime as a badass window fabricator and restorer. (more on that to come, as collaborating with them has been lovely, and I’m totally drawing the new company logo and making mugs and shirts and other cute things.)
speaking of which, we finished our batch of fruit stained glass window commissions, and I’m so pleased with the results! here’s a look at a sketch for the fuyu kaki or asian persimmon (as opposed to the american persimmon we started with) as well as the watermelon, cherry, and pawpaw.
these are off to Paris, NYC, St. Louis, and a neighbor here in the Chi. :) as always, in depth processes, concept art, and final designs can all be found on my patreon.
that’s all for now! I hope you all are enjoying some sun and warmer weather.
will catch up to you in June, and stay safe <3
