hello and welcome to my first post! I’m still figuring out how this newsletter thing works, but seems this this month is a great place to test things out as things have been BUSY.
ahead lies:
pre-order information for my upcoming comic-filled guide and cookbook, COOK LIKE YOUR ANCESTORS
irl pics of my fresh risographs inspired by that one meme about potato europe vs tomato europe
info on my upcoming comic reading (both virtual & in-person) at UIC this Friday, April 21!
a cute new comic
my long awaited labor of love, COOK LIKE YOUR ANCESTORS is now available for pre-order HERE, along with lots of sneak peeks (plus all that & a lil’ extra on patreon).
this was released alongside the printing of my two risograph posters (via the lovely press Tiny Splendor of the bay area)~
I just got mine in the mail and just have to show you them in the sun:
choose your fighter (and grab one of your own): TOMATO vs POTATO
THIS friday, April 21 @ 3:30 CST I’ll be doing (my very first) live comics reading at the UIC Disability Cultural Center. so honored to have been invited by residency fellow (and fellow comic artist!) Bianca Xunise to speak alongside Sage Coffey and Eileen Chavez... like!! look at this cute aaah poster Bianca drew!!
the readings will be super accessible, and accompanied by alt text & an ASL interpreter. I’ll be reading the feature I did a couple years back for The Nib: Roots to Fruits and reflecting on the way this country’s history & culture of erasure impacts the mental health of it’s black and indigenous people. RSVP here to tune in via zoom, or pull up in person~
& lastly, on the subject of mental health… HAPPY AUTISM AWARENESS MONTH! here is something my partner did the other week that made me snort. had to immortalize it in comic form:
also, happy birthday to this gorgeous hairy aries queen, and hello almost-springtime :’)
and that’s the april round up! thanks for reading~
